As you might expect Friday's selections are from Dundalk, and Ireland will be our playground for the next few days.
I personally make a lot of Irish bets and do well there, but because customers prefer UK action most of our service bets are UK runners.
At this stage I'm not expecting the shutdown to effect our profits for the month.
6:30 – The Game Of Life – 13/8 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Won a C&D maiden at the end of last season and then followed that up with battling on second over a furlong shorter 35-days ago. The return to a mile will suit and the 4-year-old has more progress in him. Gougane Barra looking for a hat trick will be a tough opponent and looks the main danger to the selection.
7:30 – Chess Grand Master – 9/2 @Bet365 – Another for the inform Joseph O’Brien yard. The 6-year-old was having his first start for 415-days when landing a 1m 4f maiden here 21-days ago. Has the dreaded “bounce” to overcome but the 2m of today’s race should suit, as he was doing his best work at the finish last time.
8:00 – Power Drive – 5/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – There really isn’t much between those at the front of the market. Plenty of exposed handicappers who win in their own turn. The selection won a handicap on good to firm at Naas off 3lb higher last summer. He hasn’t quite reached that level on the AW but has run some respectable races and there shouldn’t be too much between early favourite Sleepy Head and the selection on their running here back in October.
