2:25 – Billingsley– 4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The 6-year-old returns for his first start since April. Ended last season with two wins over hurdles taking his career record over hurdles 2 wins from 3 runs, both wins on heavy at Chepstow. Handicap debut today, Richard Johnson is an eye-catching jockey booking, and the selection looks capable of more improvement, especially if the expected rain arrives.
3:00 – Hills of Dubai – 5/1 @ William Hill & Ladbrokes – The 9-year-old is 2 wins from 4 runs 3 placed over fences and is lightly raced enough to think he can progress further this season. Both his wins last season came at Ayr on heavy going, so any rain will be welcomed. Stamina for 2m 7f has to be taken on trust but the 242-day layoff shouldn’t be an issue as the selection won first time up last season after a 298-day break. Trainer Donald McCain does well with his chasers at Haydock. In the past 3-years he’s had 8 winners from from 18 runners 44% +21 11 placed 61%. Which is another positive to the selections chance today.
