I hope this article finds you in good form and by the time you read it, jumps racing proper will have kicked off at Chepstow. Exciting.
To help with the season ahead, I’ve shared a few track stats angles from my ‘Trainer Track Profiles’ jumps report. These angles find plenty of winners and the daily shortlists can be a great ‘starting point’ to finding your days bets.
There are 181 angles in total in the full report, and below I’ve shared a few of them from seven courses.

Please note the following: –
- All stats cover the period from 1st January 2018 to end April 2023. They cover five complete calendar years and the first four months of 2023. As this is a ‘winter jumps’ report, all stats that follow were achieved in the months of October through to end April, unless stated. This is the main ‘winter’ season.
- The stats focus on ‘handicaps’, and unless stated otherwise, the stats cover both ‘standard’ handicap hurdles & chases, and ‘novice’ handicap hurdles & chases.
- Please read the angles carefully, the trainers denoted in bold.
- For an angle to be included there had to be at least x5 winners in the period and I’ve tried to find angles with at least a 25% win strike rate. Profit figures are to a £1 win bet, ‘SP’ = Industry Starting Price; ‘BFSP’ = Betfair Exchange Starting Price. ‘A/E’ stands for Actual vs Expected and can help identify value, horses outperforming market expectations. The bigger the number above 1.00 the better, for all we’re dealing with small sample sizes.
- The stats were researched using an odds cap of 16/1. So, all stats are for horses sent off 16/1 or shorter SP. (unless stated) It’s likely some of these angles will fire out winners at a bigger price and you could treat this odds cap as a ‘guide’, but using it cut out a lot of dead-wood and helped me focus on those trainers and angles that could be most useful.
