Thursday's results not included...

COURSE: Left-handed, flat.

In essence, a very fair track, ideal for the long-striding galloper. In recent seasons, the field tends to come more down the centre of the track than has historically been the case, particularly if conditions are testing.

FAVOURITES: Winning favourites at York over the past 5 years show 177-540 for 32.78% and a level stake loss of -£2.38.

Best category albeit from a small sample, is 4yo+ favourites in non-handicaps showing 30-59 for 51% (+9.30).

TRAINERS: Normally a good starting point with Racecourse Templates is to check out the top trainers at the track, but Richard Fahey and Tim Easterby are volume masters with small national averages of 8% & 7% respectively, so finding their winners is a difficult thing to do.

That said the top 5 trainers at the course have 16 runners and one imagines winners coming from this quintet. J & T Gosden (21%) and William Haggas (23%) have 3 runners each and of particular interest.

JOCKEYS: Top jockey at the course Danny Tudhope (17%) goes to Carlisle for 3 rides so the hint should be taken!

Meanwhile, Frankie Dettori (23%) who has the best strike rate at the course goes to Newbury for 3 rides, and again, the hint should be taken!

The two jockeys to follow at York tomorrow must be Tom Marquand (14%), and Andrea Atzeni (16%), they both have a full book of 7 rides!

OWNERS: Three of our top five owners have massive interest for Friday and this trio will produce winners!

Because they can start racing from a long way out at York, which is a big galloping track, sometimes the last one to challenge has an advantage. Some people think it suits front-runners, but more often than not the one in the lead will get picked off at around the 1f marker. There’s no doubt it’s a quality course, though, wide, with no ridges, lovely sweeping turns and no draw bias. It can become very testing when the ground gets soft – it is KnavesMIRE, after all – and then it really takes some getting – Jason Weaver.
