Here's what Alex says about GDC…

Monday Feb 02  15:30  Leopardstown  Galopin Des Champs  2.00  Points  Win

15/8 with Unibet, BetVictor & Ladbrokes.

An unprecedented 4th Irish Gold Cup in a row awaits Galopin Des Champs. The past few seasons he has tended to need his first run of the season, and so I thought his effort in the Savills Chase at Christmas was a solid one, when looking like he would win again rounding the bend, but he ran out of steam in the straight. He is imperious at this track and given the likelihood of him improving fitness-wise from his Christmas run, I don’t see what will beat him. Gaelic Warrior just isn’t at his best here, I don’t think Fact To File is a 3-miler, Spindleberry is an interesting runner, but this is a massive ask on her first try at 3 miles. I’d imagine with natural improvement this run that Affordale Fury and I Am Maximus won’t have enough to repel him this time. Inothewayurthinkin has looked a shadow of himself this season. Everything is in Galopin Des Champs favour and providing his age isn’t catching up to him, he’ll win once again.

All the best

Darren Power

  • Snow racing

As I type this the clerk at Wolverhampton is making a decision as to whether there will be any racing in the UK today. We’ve got a bit of snow here but not enough to build a full size snow man, at least not in the half hour that Lilian was prepared to stay outside!…

We've got a new tipping competition starting on Monday, more on that in a moment. First, earlier in the week I urged you to check out Sean Trivass' research on trainers who school well and have their charges jumping proficiently on their first run. I've been following these, low stakes, and since we published on…
