Snooker loopy nuts are we

Josh Allen is my man for snooker tips and so with the World Championship Qualifiers cueing up on Monday, I hit him up for some selections.

So with permission I've included a couple of selections below from his Cue The Profits service…

Jamie Jones To Qualify (Section 6) – 1pt @ 7/1 (8.0) Coral, Ladbrokes

Jamie Jones isn’t seeded, but he’s in one of the more open brackets and should comfortably make the semis in any case, given he’ll play one of two very limited players (Reanne Evans and Vladislav Gradinari) in his opening round.

While he’s not had a particularly great season, it’s his record in the qualifiers for this event that makes him a cracking bet at the price. Despite never being ranked above 27 in the world, since 2012 Jones has qualified six times from 12 attempts and made it as far as the final qualifying round on four of the other six occasions.

I’ve gone with the full point in the hope that he’ll make it to the final, where I will then look to hedge.

Fan Zhengyi To Qualify (Section 15) – 1pt @ 7/2 (4.5) generally

This is one of the softer brackets, and I fancy Fan to make it through, just as he has done in two of the last three years (including when hammering Steven Maguire in the final qualifying round in 2023).

Should he win his opening match, he’ll face Jimmy Robertson in the semis. Jimmy’s a decent player, but he’s also a 39 year old who has qualified just once in the last eight years.

Meanwhile, in the other half of the draw, favourite Yuan Sijun won’t have an easy time of it, with potential banana skins including Jamie Clarke, who isn’t currently on the main tour but won three rounds of the UK Championship this season and has made it through qualifying twice since 2020.

If the final does end up being Fan against Yuan, I’d also fancy our chances, considering Yuan has failed to make it through qualifying in any of his seven attempts.

Whether you're interested in joining Cue The Profits or not the sales page is worth a read.

It might well teach you something about overbet favourites in personality events!
