The Acorn’s 5 Pointers

Firstly, an update of those systems currently under the 5 Pointer banner.

It’s very early days so there isn’t a lot to report currently but hopefully we will enter in to profits shortly. (Time of writing 13th Feb 2022).

And so on to March-May.

As always March is overwhelmed with Cheltenham information, so we are going to concentrate on the All Weather for the months of March-May.

7 trainers have flagged up as worthy of inspection based on their results over the past 14 months (2021 – 13th Feb 2022).

But interestingly not one of the 29 winners have come at Kempton, in fact those 13 runners didn’t even make the places.

In addition, as the results for Southwell would be based on the Fibre Sand rather than the new Tapeta surface during March – May last year it seems prudent to concentrate our efforts on the remaining four courses, Chelmsford City, Lingfield, Newcastle and Wolverhampton.

The successes of the trainers mentioned shown above dwindles when we restrict the courses and leaves us with 4 trainers of possible interest.

C G Cox (Clive Cox)

Excellent strike rates in 2021 yielded a heathy profit over the 3 month period, but the previous years would have seen a loss, albeit not catastrophic. In fact, since 2011 backing blindly you would have achieved a profit of 31.15 points to ISP (51.44 BFSP), but as we can see almost all of that came in 2021.

Runners since 2011 on the All Weather have been in the main at 2 tracks, Lingfield and Wolverhampton…

…which are the tracks where the profit of 26.85 points were earned in 2021. Those 8 winners in 2021 were priced anywhere between 2/11f to 16/1 and all but 1 of those winners were ridden by Adam Kirby.

We are possibly going to be looking at no more than a dozen runners over the 3 month period, and 2021 may well have been a one off, but we are willing to take a chance in 2022.

System 89: Back Clive Cox runners ridden by Adam Kirby at Lingfield and Wolverhampton.

Geoffrey Deacon

Geoffrey Deacon has a small stable with just a handful of horses, but in 2021 he managed to land 3 different horses from their 9 runs at double figure prices, Woggle 27/1, Captain Ryan 15/1 and La Roca Del Fuego 15/1.

Looking at the stats 2021 is the only year where a profit of any significance was available in a 10 year period so it’s not a regular occurrence, but we will be keeping an eye out for any of his runners over the period, particularly in Sellers or Handicaps.

System 88: Back Geoffrey Deacons runners at the above courses in Sellers and Handicaps.

Mohamed Moubarak

A relatively new trainer Mohamed Moubaraks runners have been few and far between since sending his runners out on the All Weather in 2017 but 2020/2021 had 14 runners over the 3 month period, all of which ran in Handicaps and the 4 winners came in sprints over 6f-7f.

Not a massive pool of data but his other all weather runners since 2017 running over 1mile or further failed to place in their races.

System 87: Back Mohamed Moubaraks Handicap runners over 7f or less at the above tracks.

A Wintle (Adrian Wintle)

Farmer and trainer Adrian Wintle has had All Weather runners since 2015 and again 2021 is the only profitable year during the period of 2015 to date.

One of those 3 winners came in a Sellers race so there’s not a lot to go on as to whether there is a particular race type this trainer is going to head for if any over the coming months. But with winners’ prices of 3/1, 13/2 and 10/1 we think we may take a punt this year again.

System 86: Back Adrian Wintle’s runners at the above tracks.

Of interest also are Adrian Wintle and Mohamed Moubarak when their runners are on the Flat Turf in the lower class races (Class 5 and Class 6). Last year they both landed a 22/1 and 28/1 winner respectively from their handful of runners.

Remember, if we are in a profit (5 points or more), we will look to bank the profits and leave the systems there, stopping at a winning month. If we are running at a loss we will continue into April/May as appropriate.
