Value? Not so sure now

I thought I'd scored some huge value when I was proof reading the latest magazine, but I'm not so sure now!

I was reading Paul Slattery's FormHorse Select how I pick em, column where he mentioned the books that he first learned from 25 years ago.

Some of them I'd read, but the ML Midgely books I hadn't seen before.

FormHorse Select is ahead again for the 7th consecutive month, so I pay attention to what Paul teaches and am keen to know what he knows.

So I got onto Amazon and searched. I couldn't find How To Analyse Form by ML Midgley, but I saw a used copy of Form Book Analysis by the same author.

There was one copy available for £380. Yes three hundred and eighty pounds. Hmm.

So I got on Google and found a copy at World of Books for £5.50. 

Wow, I thought, I'll order that, read it and then sell it on Amazon for £380 or maybe I'd give it as a prize in our tipping competition, it's worth £380, a great prize.

When it arrived I was telling Debbie what a bargain I'd found and went back on Amazon to show her and the Amazon copy had disappeared, no longer available!

Somebody bought it for £380.

Or was it the same copy and somebody was trying to resell it at £380 knowing they could buy for £5.50.

I'd be surprised if two people bought this same obscure 42 year old book on the same day 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyway I don't know what the story is, but I have it and will hopefully find time to read it over Christmas and I'll let you know what I learn.

There's not a lot of racing today with Ayr and Punchestown abandoned, but hopefully Paul will have something for us.

If you are happy to bet at short prices and sacrifice excitement for profit then FormHorse Select is a great earner.

I mean I was still pretty excited yesterday when Mersea Island won which I matched at 1.82 and that's because I'm confident enough to bet at much bigger stakes on Paul's selections.
