each way tip inside

No win for the bet I shared yesterday.

But for those that joined Smart Value Tips the Stephen Thorne angle paid off and that is one to keep in the notebook.

Today I have another tip from Smart Value Tips and some extra info that was sent to members last night.

First I want to say a bit about how the service has performed, As you know the ROI has been huge and the profit has also been huge and by the way there is a link to the results page at the bottom of the sales page.

But the way the profit has come is in big junks. It ticks along and then  every now and then a big priced winner comes along and it takes a big leap forward.

Have a look at the results page to get a proper feel for it.

It'a a busy day for Smart Value Tips with five account bets. Here is the first along with some other pointers that are not account bets but are extra info for members who want more action…

Saturday Jan 17  14:05  Taunton  Kilworth  1.00  Point  Win & Place (Betfair)

On paper this is a competitive Handicap. However after doing the research there are numerous reasons why certain trainers should not win!!!! The one real stats standout though is Kilworth making her handicap debut for Emma Lavelle (her only runner of the day) with Sean Bowen aboard. Lavelle has an excellent record with Handicap debutants in Class 5 Handicap & Novice H'cap Hurdles

  • 5 year January record : 4r 3w 3p (winning this race last year)
  • Overall 5 year record with hcap debutants in Class 5 Novice Hcap Hurdles: 7r 3w 4p

The champion jockey is an eyecatching booking and looks excellent each way value at best priced 9-1.

I have listed below a few others that maybe worth noting tomorrow. Not strong enough stats to make my final selections but worthy of consideration if wanting an interest if the relevant race.

12.45 Navan : TIMESAREACHANGING – Andrew Slattery has a solid place record 5r 1w 4p with horses making their hurdling debut in a 4yo+ Maiden Hurdle.

3.10 Haydock : MAGIC WAVE – Mark Walford has only sent 3 Handicap Hurdlers to Haydock in the past 5 seasons, 2 won whilst the other was placed. All were ridden by tomorrow's jockey Jamie Hamilton. Too small of a stats sample to be confident enough to make my final selection. But interesting nonetheless and 16-1 could be decent each way value.

3.50 Taunton : TED THE THIEF – A race where the vast majority of trainer stats are poor. However Robert Walford has an excellent record in January Class 5 4yo+ Handicap Chases (12r 4w 7p). Also had a winner last Sunday at Fontwell with the Harry Kimber aboard. Ted The Thief should steal the race but at best priced 2-1, doesn't appeal in value terms.

6.30 Southwell : YORKSTONE – I've been drawn to an angle this month featuring Mick & David Easterby's runners in January Class 6 Classified Stakes.

  • 5 year January record : 11r 4w 7p.
  • Southwell : 5r 2w 3p
  • Joanna Mason riding : 9r 3w 5p

Yorkstone meets the stats criteria tomorrow evening. I'm a little reluctant to put the horse confidently forward as a selection as this previously profitable angle is potentially starting to wane. I'm a believer that angles/trends can at times only have a limited shelf life as trainers rotate horses, training methods etc… And in this example 2 of the last 3 runners this month (including Yorkstone) have finished well down the field. Current best priced at 6-1 which in all honesty is a price I wouldn't take. I'd certainly want nearer double figure odds before considering a small each way bet. However wouldn't totally put anyone off if they wanted an interest in the race.

All the best
