Rods US Runners
The latest On Course Profits Product Reviews on some of the products and services currently on offer on the market.
Rods US Runners
Cost: £40.00 per month / £100.00 per quarter / £350.00 annually.
The Trial: July was a less successful month for this exceptionally industrious tipster who only tips horses with double figure decimal odds (sometimes treble figures!).
It is possible that the fine weather favours those shorter priced runners, but there were still an average of over 37 tips a day for the month’s total of 1,169 which included 170 advised each-way. There were 65 winners with odds advised between 9/1 and 40/1 and 27 placers with odds up to 100/1.
Taking the each ways as 2 bets then with the singles there were 92 winning bets returning a profit out of a total of 1,339 bets – a 6.87% strike rate. This percentage is similar to last month but this time the result was a loss of 173.52pts…Gulp!
The service is still 46pts up over the review period but it takes a strong stomach to place that number of bets and keep the faith with losses like those in a month.
Conclusion: The service has plenty of action and we are showing a profit but you’ll need to set aside a healthy betting bank if you are going to make the most of this service. You can find out more here.
The Laying Game
Cost: £15.00 for the first month then £30.00 per month thereafter.
The Trial: Our first losing month with almost 7 points loss, albeit the last two months have only shown marginal profits.
With 52 winners from 86 selections the strike rate is healthy but overall we are 3 points down and with subscription fees to take into account the profits need to improve.
Conclusion: May have potential but returns need to be improved. You can find out more here.
Racing Genius
Cost: £14.95 per month
The Trial: Like many services during the latest month it has struggled to match its website claims but has managed to eke out a small profit.
With 9 winners from the advised 39 selections this month we have shown a marginal profit of just over 1.30 points to the advised prices.
Overall the position is 20 winners from 86 selections and a profit of almost 11.50 points to advised prices.
Conclusion: Promising. Find out more by clicking here.
Cost: First 30 days tips £5.00
The Trial: The warm, dry weather appeared to suit this horse backing service as its strike rate hit over 40% with 30 winners from 72 selections.
Allowing for 5 Rule 4 deductions between 10p & 25p the profit to 1 point level stakes was 15.90 points to the advised odds with BOG, an ROI of 22.08% which brings the service into profit.
Conclusion: A possible, but next month will cement our opinion.
Cost: £9.99 per month
The Trial: We have been impressed by the short losing runs on this service which to date have been just 2 bets.
This is a comparatively new service provided by Chris Wigg and Theo Koumis and as its name suggests you are advised to back its selections each way.
The 20 tips to date have only had 6 out of the frame with 10 being outright winners, a 50% win SR. The winning SPs were between 5/4-5/1 and the 4 placers between 11/4-7/1.
The net profit, calculated at half a point each way with BOG, was a shade over 6 points for an ROI of 30%. Surprisingly this service does not calculate its results with BOG so it misses out on any odds drift and this has already happened more than once.
The selections are emailed around noon on race day and can also be accessed on a password secured website.
With the tips being so close to the racing time we decided to check if Betfair SPs showed an improved return which turned out to be the case as the profit now stood at almost 8 points and an ROI of 39%.
Conclusion: Certainly worth an investment based on current findings. You can find out more here.
Trackside
Cost: £17.50 for first month £35.00 per month thereafter / £85.00 for 3 months.
The Trial: All bets are 1 or 2pts and win and EW. A poor start has seen 4/27 winners and a loss of over 11 points.
Conclusion: Needs to improve.
