Joseph O’Brien did win the King George V handicap yesterday, just not with the one I backed!
Today could be the big day for punters, with three short-priced, clear favourites in Sun Goddess, Venetian Sun and Precise. If they all go in, the bookies will have their tails between their legs.

Alas, it rarely works out that way and I’d be surprised if at least one of them didn’t get beaten, if not two.
Charles Darwin is a good example of how fickle betting can be at times.
He was favourite for the Commonwealth Cup, having won 4 on the bounce, including the Norfolk Stakes here last season.
In May he finished last of 8 and evidently wasn’t right. Yet he went out to 20/1 and despite being shorter than that now, he shouldn’t be double figures on the balance of what he’s shown over the past year. 14/1 is available at the moment and that will do for me.
Good luck, especially if you’re backing the shorties treble!
Alex

Betting all my adult life, firstly at the greyhound track where my dad was a trainer more recently horses.
A fan of systems based betting which I've been practicing and writing about since 2004 which was the last time I had a real job.
Specialise, that's Dave Renham's advice and that's how he achieved success when he operated a tipping service. In this month's mag Dave applied that approach to 6 furlong handicaps at Kempton. Today we have two 6 furlong handicaps at Kempton. You can read Dave's research here https://www.oncourseprofits.com/specialising-over-a-specific-course-and-distance/ Here's a quick summary as it applies to…
I've just listened to Matt Bisogno's review of his Cheltenham bets . One thing he said was "what even is the point of betting this race" in relation to the Triumph Hurdle which was won by an unraced Willie Mullins horse. The reason I mention that is because of NH Jumpers. You might remember I mentioned…
I love reading about succesful gamblers, the big stakes guys and gals making crazy big bets, riding the rollercoaster. The Harry Findlays of the world. Most of us don't want that, we want steady profit or at least we realise that slow and steady is the best path to long term profit. I've just started…
[[EXCERPT_START]] So of course the problem with narrowing down a long list of selections is that you might throw out some winners. And that is what happened with our long list of heavy going selections yesterday. I passed on winners at 12.61, 8.24 and 2.1. But I would rather be more selective and bet at…
As I type this the clerk at Wolverhampton is making a decision as to whether there will be any racing in the UK today. We’ve got a bit of snow here but not enough to build a full size snow man, at least not in the half hour that Lilian was prepared to stay outside!…
I see Geegeez have just published some research on horses having their first run after being gelded, so I thought I'd just mention that we publish a list of horses having their first gelded outing each day – here A bit of a quiet day on the racing front, we have five meetings but not…
