Back in July '24 Ben Aitken wrote an article for us highlighting some trainers who were skilled at placing their three year olds for a win in handicaps.
He shared 5 systems with us, one for each of the trainers he was targeting.

Four of those systems produced a profit and we kept them in our 2025 portfolio.
The one that didn't produce a profit had only 1 bet which lost.
All in all some excellent value from Ben.

In that article Ben highlighted the performance of Tim Easterby with his three year olds in handicaps in August and September.
Since we published Ben's system it has produced a 27% strike rate and a 128% ROI at Betfair SP.
Tim Easterby has a runner today that fits the profile and although I wouldn't have picked it on form as I've said before if we are systems bettors we shouldn't try and cherry pick the selections, the benefit of systems is that they find winners that aren't fancied and hence they are value bets.
I am also a big fan of systems that find selections in handicaps, races where all the horses should have an equal chance of winning.
This may or may not win and it's not really fancied by the racing press but I am happy with the bet and have has a little at 12/1 each-way and a little at Betfair SP on…
