Specialisation is the way

Specialise, that's Dave Renham's advice and that's how he achieved success when he operated a tipping service.

In this month's mag Dave applied that approach to 6 furlong handicaps at Kempton.

Today we have two 6 furlong handicaps at Kempton.

You can read Dave's research here

Here's a quick summary as it applies to today's races.

Favourites do ok, long term a bit under a third win and they make a small positive ROI at BSP.

There are more male runners than female and males have a higher strike rate and are profitable to follow, albeit with multiple bets in every race the strike rate for the whole group is just 11.1%.

A quick check tells me that nearly 80% of these races are won by a male.

Draw wise the advantage goes to horses drawn in the first quartile. So in the 18:00 that's stalls 1 to 3 in the 17:30 it will probably be less relevant with only 6 running, but stall 1 or 2 maybe give a small advantage.

Dropped in class is a big negative, not only overbet but the strike rate is low. Up in class likewise.

With regard to position last time out, the best strike rate comes from horses finishing in the first 4 last time out with those finishing 2nd scraping a profit.

Finally those that run last time at Kempton fair better than those that ran elsewhere.

I'm going to have a small bet on Coul Angel in the 17:30. It is up in class which is a negative, but it is the only one of the six that placed last time out, it is drawn 2 and ran at Kempton last time.

It's no surething but at 8/1 I see it as a value pick.

In the 18:00 the three at the head of the market all look good, although Cameley Days is a filly who raced on turf at Bath last time.

Southbank is drawn 1, but Cameley Days could lead. I may just watch.

Anyway whatever you decide about today's bets I hope Dave's research will be useful over the winter as the all weather action ramps up.
