The Retirement Plan

The Retirement Plan in Practise – Part IV

Hi all,

For new readers we will recap the premise of this on-going series which began in September with the catchy headline of …

Retire in 10 years with £905,539.40 in the Bank starting with just £100

The original article relating to the Retirement Plan can be found here.

In essence the piece talks about achieving a nominal profit each day and then reinvesting that to compound the growth.

We decided to use the selections from the Soccer Bank Builder service details of which can be found here

Results to date

Month 1

We started on the 1st of August and used a daily target of 1% growth of the original bank which was 100 pounds.

August had a mixture of long winning runs and a number of setbacks and overall, the 31 selections produced 26 winners (83.87% Strike Rate) and the revised bank at the end of the first month sat at £122.39.

Although this is below where the target was, it still represents a growth of +22.39% on the original £100 bank.

Month 2

September met with an early setback when the Danish game between Hobro and B93 ended with a win for the away side when we were on the double chance (home/draw).

There were no suitable games for the 3rd and 4th September, so we resumed on the 5th with a winner which was followed the next day (Sept 6th) with a bore draw between the Under 21’s of Northern Ireland and England, we were on the away side.

That set us back below the start bank by a smidgeon, but we quickly got back to winning ways with 4 positives on the bounce. Then the unthinkable happened, Liverpool got turned over at Anfield by Notts Forest!

We then went on a 6-winning spree before another step backwards on the 21st in the Croatian League. Sun 22nd saw an empathic win for Barcelona over Villareal, but then Monday’s game was postponed due to the weather.

Atalanta v Como was rescheduled to the next night and therefore the original bet stayed in place and our stake on the home win was lost with the game ending 2-3 to Como.

The remaining selections in September included 5 winners but another costly loser.

After quite a topsy-turvy month September ended with a revised bank of £128.27, so overall no harm done, but not quite where we had hoped to be on the Retirement Plan schedule.

Month 3

The first trio of bets all went well but, on the 4th, Marseille were held to a 1-1 draw by Angers which knocked the bank back somewhat. The recovery calculation tripped in and Saturday’s selection, Arsenal, were comfortable winners at home to Southampton. The weekend was wrapped up with another winner, so the bank had moved back to 144.12.

Due to the International break, we had a rest period and the next selection was on the 10th October which proved to have a positive outcome and was followed by 6 further winners.

Due to the football schedule, we then had a further couple of rest days and resumed on the 18th with a winner which was followed by 8 more winners on the bounce.

On Sunday 27th Zagreb was a surprise loser at home with Osijek taking the spoils by 4 goals to 2. The next day was a winning one but was followed by Sporting failing to score in the first half against National. They eventually ran out comfortable winners by 3-1 and the sporting manager was heading to Man United.

The remaining two days of the month were winners, so October ended with the revised bank sitting at 217.23.

Although after 3 months we are still a little adrift of the Retirement Plan target of 249.79 the original 100pt bank has more than doubled and the process has coped comfortably with the few setbacks we have met to date.

Encouraging results so far:

Month 1 grew the bank by +22.39%

Month 2 grew the bank by +4.80%

Month 3 grew the bank by +69.35%

Until next time
