Trainer stats deeper dive
We've not had any content from Colin Magee recently but his Betwise platform has just added a feature that is very interesting.
We all use trainer stats. But the question we're usually asking is the wrong one. "Does this trainer win a lot?" isn't what matters. What matters is: does this trainer do well with this type of horse, at this distance, at this stage of rest?

Colin's new Daily Trainer Stats feature answers exactly that.
For every race, it shows you how a trainer has historically performed with horses of similar age and days since their last run — then plots today's runner directly into that distribution. You can see at a glance whether the current conditions suit this trainer's pattern, or whether the horse is going against the trend.
It's the kind of thing that takes five minutes to check and changes how you think about a race.
