It’s all about the price
A few random thoughts this morning.

Yesterday, there was just one horse flagged. In the morning, it was a huge outsider—an eye-watering 80/1!
Our biggest-priced previous winner started at 35.43 Betfair SP. But by the off, Nannymoore Bridge had soared into triple figures on Betfair, and I couldn’t resist a nibble at 135.3.
The drama kicked off as soon as the race started. Nannymoore Bridge sped off from the tapes, opening up a lead of 15 to 20 lengths—suddenly, she was trading around 20.0.
At moments like this, it's decision time.
There’s no shame in laying off when your horse collapses in price; in fact, it’s smart! I laid off at 19.5, securing a “free bet” for the remainder of the race.
If she’d hung on, it was a 114x payout on my original stake with zero risk.
Nannymoore Bridge was reeled in, but I enjoyed the ride and the free bet.
If you find yourself watching a race and your pick is trading much shorter than your entry price, don’t feel bad about banking some profit.
Especially when you’re on a triple-digit outsider—grab the chance!
Elsewhere, my only other solid bet was on the FormHorse Select tip, which I backed at 3.6—it duly obliged, winning at a BSP of 2.4.
Remember: just because we record official results to Betfair SP doesn’t mean you’re tied to it! The savviest followers consistently beat the market by acting early and hunting for value. BSP is the fairest benchmark and shows the bare minimum profit all followers could have achieved.
So, challenge yourself: aim to win more than the official results! Sometimes I split stakes between the early price and BSP…
Other times, I set ambitious odds and let the “Take SP” feature bail me out if my bet isn’t matched.
Both are simple strategies to help you outpace BSP.
Pick your approach based on how the market’s moving and stay alert for those golden opportunities.
