World Championship winner tip inside

The World Snooker Championship is underway at the Crucible, and I've got a cracking tip from the team at Cue The Profits that I think is well worth your attention.

Kyren Wilson to win the World Championship – 1pt each-way (2pts total) @ 12/1 (13.0) generally (2 places, ½ odds)

It looks like a wide-open championship this year, and I think that Kyren Wilson is a fantastic each-way bet.

Zhao Xintong will be the fancy of many, but the 'Crucible Curse' is a thing (no first-time champion has ever followed up) and, in any case, odds of 2/1 are offensively skinny. He's also on the other side of the draw to Wilson, so can't meet our selection until the final in any case.

Judd Trump is second favourite but has a terrible World Championship record for a player of his quality, making the last two (winner once, runner-up once) on just two occasions since his first final appearance in 2011.

Ronnie O'Sullivan hasn't won a tournament this year, and I'll be astounded if he's consistent enough these days to win a best of 33 semi-final followed by a best of 35 final. He did better than I expected last year, but was still hammered 17-7 in the semis. I'd want at least twice his current odds of 7/1 to back him.

Mark Selby is nowhere near as consistent as he used to be and has lost in round one the last two years on the bounce. He also has a horrible round one match (against Jak Jones) this year.

That brings us to the fifth favourite, Kyren Wilson. Kyren fell foul of the curse last year, but prior to that won the Worlds in 2024 and made the final in 2020. He won the Masters (one of the three 'Triple Crown' events) in January, and at 34, he should be at the peak of his powers.

On top of all that, he has a relatively kind draw, with Mark Allen (tends to struggle at the Crucible) and Mark Williams (a legend, but surely he can't keep getting to finals at his age) the only real big dogs in his quarter. As previously mentioned, he also can't play Xintong until the final.

This is just one of the bets and analysis pieces Cue The Profits are producing across all three World Championship tournaments. If you want the full coverage — every selection, every write-up — you can get it all here:
