I’m so excited
We've got some exciting new contributors lined up for the magazine in coming months.
One that I'm specially interested in is some research and profiling around sectional times.

Dave who is doing the research shared a profile for today's Sky Bet Dash.
Dave has built a profile from 33 comparable races.
This contest is won less by the horse with the highest raw speed figures and more by one capable of distributing its energy efficiently. The ideal winner travels comfortably through the early stages before producing one of the strongest finishing efforts in the field. Sectional efficiency is the dominant characteristic, accounting for over half of the model weighting, while draw, trainer/jockey performance and ratings provide supporting evidence rather than driving the selection. The emphasis is firmly on finishing power rather than early speed.
Dave has reduced the 22 runner field down to 5 contenders some at huge prices.
Here is the full analysis.
Race Analysis Our sectional model identified Addison Grey as the clear standout, producing the highest overall score (88.3) and an estimated tissue price of 3/1. The selection excelled across every major component, combining an outstanding sectional fit with a perfect tactical match, strong quality ratings and positive connections. Trilby rated the principal value alternative thanks to an exceptional sectional profile despite a less favourable draw, while Yes I'm Mali and Commanche Falls also featured prominently through their strong finishing profiles. Musical Touch completed the leading group, again driven by an excellent sectional match. Overall, the analysis reinforces the historical evidence that efficient energy distribution and finishing strength are more predictive than outright early pace in this type of large-field sprint.
Why the Model Likes These Horses
Addison Grey: Complete profile match with elite sectionals, ideal tactical positioning, proven quality and strong connections.
Trilby: Outstanding sectional profile and excellent winner-template match. Draw is the principal concern rather than ability.
Yes I'm Mali: Strong finishing profile, favourable draw and positive connections combine to make an interesting double-figure price contender.
Commanche Falls: Solid ratings allied to an excellent draw and proven ability to produce the required finishing effort.
Musical Touch: Another horse whose sectional profile closely mirrors previous winners and could easily outrun market expectations.
I can't wait to see how it pans out at two!
All the best
