Do you like to be on a steamer or do you think the value is gone by the time the steam is spotted?
I'm trying something new today, I looked at the list of most bet horses on the ATR site and used various tools to work out why they are being bet, including some AI so do your own checks if you're betting!
Let me know what you think of this and if you'd like to see it as a regular feature I'll see what we can do.
Here are today’s big “Steamers” and reasons behind the market moves:
-
Cicero’s Gift (Sandown 15:35)
Backed heavily―and for good reason. Strong record at Sandown, Group-placed last time, and connections in decent form. Looks to have conditions and ratings in his favour. -
Dunkeld Dreamer (Beverley 15:48)
Progressive 2yo, just won nicely at Thirsk and comes from the in-form Karl Burke yard (24% strike rate last fortnight). The Nick Bradley team don’t miss many opportunities when their juveniles are ready to go in. -
Changeofmind (Beverley 16:53)
Taken a tumble in the odds (12/1 in to 7/2 (some non runners)). Bounced around in competitive handicaps, possibly showing more at home or being found a “soft” spot by connections. Beaten favourite last time signals better was expected. -
Niminy Piminy (Sandown 16:10)
Still unexposed, mostly all-weather so far, but a two-time winner already. Jamie Spencer booked and the market expects improvement switching to turf for a yard that places their horses well. -
King Of Berkshire (Yarmouth 15:25)
Big buzz for this debutant. Oisin Murphy up, trained by Andrew Balding (both flying along lately), strong pedigree, and in a small field after the non-runners—market confidence makes sense! -
Colorada Dancer (Sandown 14:05)
Massive early price (20s into 6/1). Down in grade, soft ground might be a help, and could be some yard whispers. Market likes the drop in class. -
Whatacracker (Beverley 17:24)
Huge move (16s into 9/2). Potentially a pace angle or trainer move that’s caught the eye―also lightly raced and at the right end of the handicap. -
Primoz (Kelso 18:30)
In good recent form, nicely placed up in trip and with trainer stats that catch the eye. Logical “system” or ratings pick for many. -
Albaydaa (Yarmouth 14:55)
Bred to improve plenty after a solid debut; positive noises and the stats behind trainer/jockey combo always attract attention at this level.
