Buy Borrow Die

It's PAYE tax day in 9 days, the bill is always bigger than expected and certainly bigger than I want to pay.

But with it being tax season I'm seeing a lot of talk about "how the rich avoid tax" buy buying assets and then borrowing money secured on the assets, borrowed money is not taxed, and then dying.

These ideas have always raised a lot of questions for me, so this year I got a UK centric answer, if that is at all of interest you can read here - https://thesilvershift.substack.com/p/buy-borrow-die-in-the-uk?r=pempj

Smart Value Tips

A 2 point loss for SVT yesterday with the sole selection pulled up.

The running total now since September 1st is 321 bets and 508.41 profit. That averages 109 points per month at Betfair SP.

£10 per point would be £5,084 profit. Nice!

Today he has three account bets and some pointers, I have for you the first of the account bets along with some extra suggestions…

Thursday Jan 22  12:40  Gowran Park  Eagle's Quest  1.00  Point  Win & Place (Betfair)

Evening everyone

Tomorrow, I have identified three selections, alongside another horse that could potentially perform well. My first selection runs in the 12:40 4yo+ Auction Maiden Hurdle at Gowran Park.

The market is currently headed by runners from Gordon Elliott and Gavin Cromwell; however, I believe both can be taken on with Eagle's Quest, trained by Margaret Mullins. Mullins has an excellent record in this discipline and arrives in good form, having saddled a winner at Thurles last week. She also boasts a strong January record with three runners producing two winners and another placing (1 win and the other placed at Gowran Park).

At a best-priced 12/1, Eagle's Quest appears to represent solid each-way value. Among the remaining trainers, only Gordon Elliott has statistics of note, which could make a small reverse forecast worth consideration.

ANOTHER TO POTENTIALLY NOTE

2.20 GOWRAN PARK – RACKEMANDSTACKEM

Gavin Cromwell has some excellent statistics across several key areas, including performance by month, results at Gowran Park, and his record with Keith Donoghue aboard in 4yo+ handicap hurdles (with one or more seasonal and/or handicap runs). His January record is among the strongest in the field, with 47 runners producing 7 winners and 16 placed efforts. At Gowran Park, his record stands at 3 runners for 2 wins and 2 places, while horses ridden by Donoghue have returned figures of 12 runs, 2 wins, and 7 places.

My sole reservation—and the reason RACKEMANDSTACKEM has not made the final selections—is Cromwell’s record with horses wearing a tongue-tie for the first time in handicap hurdles, which stands at 22 runners without a winner and only two placed efforts.

Cromwell also has a runner in the 1:10 Handicap Hurdle in The Lovely Man, but at the current odds, he appears too short to warrant my support. If one is prepared to overlook the negative tongue-tie statistic, the each-way value is arguably with RACKEMANDSTACKEM
