Early Season Jumps Trainers – The Ones to Note.

The last time I wrote I highlighted a handful of trainers to keep an eye on in July. I post the qualifiers in my Members’ Club’s daily posts, and collectively they finished on 15/60, 21p, +44.61 to Betfair Exchange Starting Price. That total was helped by a biggie from Paul Midgley flying in, but they all count.

That took the total for my ‘monthly trainers’ since 1st October to… +93.35 points (BFSP), if backing them all. A bit of fun for small stakes. Given the success to date of my ‘monthly trainers’, I thought I’d highlight a few ‘early season jumps trainers’ that it could pay to follow, although as always with any luck a useful ‘way in’.

I have focussed on the months of September and October. In these months there are always a mix of horses – those who’ve been running over the summer, who should have a fitness advantage, but of course may be coming to the end of their season or now be in the grip of the handicapper.

There’s then the group of returning ‘winter’ season horses, who may have more ability/class, but could well be rusty.

The foundations remain the same – there will be trainers who target this time of year, either with the first group of horses, or the latter, potentially getting them fitter at home, trying to plunder prize money before some of the ‘big guns’ (and bigger yards) get up to full speed and the racing becomes even more competitive.

As usual with such research, I’ve had my head stuck in the excellent Horse Race Base which is still my go-to for system building. Below you can find three trainer angles, followed by three trainer/jockey combo angles.
